Being a teenager. It’s not easy, right? And don’t even get me started on being a Christian teenager... CYFA is the name for our 14- to 18-year-olds’ group. You’re welcome with us if you’re an out-and-out Christian or if, like many people, you’ve not yet decided.
Sundays
We meet as part of the 7pm congregation on Sundays to sing, pray and interact with the Dundonald church family. But partway through the service we retreat to our own CYFA room for a can of drink, a chance to study the Bible together and a time to ask questions. It’s all finished by 8:30pm.
So. Being a teenager. Being a Christian. Not easy, but... Possible?
Friday Socials
Because our young people are growing in their independence our socials aim to treat them as adults without losing the fun! We meet from 8-10pm every other Friday in a variety of locations. In the past these have included homes, ice-cream parlours, cinemas and restaurants. Sometimes the lads will head out and kick a ball around and the girls will pamper themselves. Generally though, we’ll have a meal together, chill and chat. These are the perfect evenings to come along to and find out what we’re all about.
Weekend Away
Once a year we head away for a weekend together. It’s a great time for continuing to build our friendships and discover more about the God of the Bible. There are high energy activities like assault course or high-rope action, chilled out fun like board or card games, trips to the beach and late nights watching DVDs or roasting marshmallows.
Summer Camps
Each summer almost all of our young people go away for a residential week. These encourage strong friendships, memorable experiences and the chance to explore their Christian faith in a sheltered environment whilst having a cracking good time! These weeks have often proven to be the highlight of the young peoples' year. Contact Pete Snow for more information
